So I finally got my first Mac (a MacBookPro 13″) and I have to say that I like it a lot (you’ll be able to read about that in a post in the near future).
Coming from a Windows background and still working on XP at work there is one major quirk that drives me completely nuts.
Every time that I click on a link that should open in a new tab (like on a headline in Google Reader for example), Safari opens it in a new window.
Why can’t it just behave …

Today, the fan of my Asus 1000h started to make some bone chilling, whining sounds which are absolutely unbearable.
So I took it back…
3-4 weeks for the repair and me without my trusty netbook…
Fortunately I did test the 10.5.7 upgrade yesterday and could do a short write-up on this (see previous article).
But unfortunately I won’t be able to test all the new stuff that comes out over at ipis-osx, so you’ll have to rely on the forums over there but I’ll still try to help you out as much …

As a follow-up of my last articled:
So I did Jailbreak again and restored the backup. At first sight everything was OK, except that in the car when heading home, I saw that the phone reception was bricked (baseband ?). So I had no phone for 12 hours (the time to get back to my PC which I left at work) and had to restore again.
For the time being I’m not jailbreaking and am running with the basic (Apple approved) applications.

Naive as I am I wanted to update my perfectly working, jailbroken 2.2 iPhone to 2.2.1. which by the way corrects only some minor stuff (but we geeks just have to do stupid stuff like this, don’t we).
Now first try, directly update to 2.2.1 and re-jailbreak results in an infinite boot loop where the phone reboots every 5 minutes or so. This was somewhat foreseeable but you never know you could be lucky…
Second try, restore the phone firmware, then restore the backup then jailbreak. boot loop again. Now that is …
